Three historic projects by Christo and Jeanne-Claude in Paris: Wall of oil barrels—The Iron curtain , The Pont Neuf Wrapped and The Arc de Triomphe Wrapped

The Christo and Jeanne-Claude Center is proud to host a lecture by French curator Laure Martin-Poulet on October 8th at 18:00. The event will showcase three of the most emblematic Parisian projects by the iconic artist duo, Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Wall of oil barrels—The Iron curtain, The Pont Neuf Wrapped, and The Arc de Triomphe Wrapped.

Martin-Poulet took part in the realization of the last two of these projects. For the wrapping of the bridge, she worked to engage the community and shape public opinion, and during the actual implementation, headed the press office. This project is known for the complex negotiations with the mayor of Paris, ripe with twists and turns. In the wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe Martin-Poulet had a key role in the relations with the institutions responsible for permits and the realization of the project. In her lecture, she will trace the logistical, artistic and social dimensions of these iconic projects.

Attendees will explore the creative processes, challenges, and public reactions that shaped these monumental artworks, which have left a lasting legacy in the art world and the city of Paris.


This event will be a unique opportunity for art lovers, students, and professionals to engage with the extraordinary history behind these works.


The lecture will be held in English, with consecutive translation into Bulgarian.
